Position: Senior Mechanical Engineering Specialist

Job Purpose

To plan, organize and deliver cost effective and efficient data centers MEP Systems i.e. cooling, power and fire detection that meet and exceed business and customers’ expectations in terms of availability, performance, security and continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage all facility services related to power, cooling and building services.
  • Perform and supervise all required plant preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, as well as produce all reports and documentation.
  • Manage and execute internal corporate and technical policies and procedures.
  • Witness testing of all equipment during startup with construction/installation representatives.
  • Respond on an as-need basis to incidents and emergencies
  • Implement and enforce corporate safety, health and environmental policies, including activities of external contractors
  • Manage stock level to ensure spare part min/max levels are met at all times
  • Update the maintenance SOPs, processes and checklists to increase its applicability.
  • Interface directly with construction project teams, contractors and engineering consultants to identify key project concerns and cost issues
  • Incorporate understanding of local and national building codes during installations and maintenance
  • Design and review HVAC, electrical, fire alarm, plumbing, and sprinkler systems for various projects using AutoCAD.
  • Confer with other consultants, clients, and contractors to resolve issues and provide technical information/solutions while meeting the business goals with quality and standards.

Attributes

  • Working Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution, Dynamic and Static UPS, Diesel Generators, Fire Detection Systems, HVAC, Building Automation Systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast changing banking service environment.
  • Ability to present technical data in a comprehensive, yet clear manner.
  • Competency and experience in facility maintenance, operations and management of MEP Systems

Qualifications and Experience• At least Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related academic field
• Good command on Mechanical Engineering Drawings using AutoCAD
• Atleast 3 years of relevant work experience in installation and maintenance of MEP systems

The Fishbowl Challenge: Product and Business Planning Competition 2019 is open! The Fishbowl Challenge is a global collaborative entrepreneurial and business case competition designed for university students across the world.

The competition is open to both students who already have their own ideas and fit the entrepreneur persona as well as students who do not have their own idea but have a demonstrated interest in any of our shortlisted problem areas and have the problem-solving skills needed to work with like-minded peers towards a solution.There will be three rounds of increasing selectivity and exposure to world-class mentors with industry experience who will provide support and guidance to teams along the way. The final round of the competition will be an all-expense-paid final in London over the summer. The winning team will earn a stipend to flesh out their idea and a shot at seed funding to fully realize their venture.

Academic qualifications and Work experience 
Essential

  • A minimum of graduate degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Psychology, Business Administration or Industrial Relations
  • At least 7 years working in the same role in a reputable Company, 3 of which must be in a senior HR role.

5G Afrika Kusini

5G yaanza kupatikana katika nchi ya kwanza Afrika. Baada ya ‘figisu figisu’ za mataifa ya Marekani na baadhi ya washirika wake wa ‘kuibania’ kampuni ya Huawei juu ya usambazaji wa teknolojia yake ya kisasa zaidi ya mtandao wa 5G, kampuni hiyo imepeleka teknoljia hiyo nchi ya Afrika Kusini.

Inaonekana kwa Afrika kampuni hiyo haitapata vikwazo au ugumu katika biashara ukilinganisha na katika mataifa ya magharibi

Huawei kwa kushirikiana na kampuni inayotoa huduma za mawasiliano ya nchini Afrika Kusini ya RAIN, wamefanikiwa kuwezesha teknolojia ya mtandao wa 5G nchini humo.

Hatua hiyo inaifanya nchi ya Afrika Kusini kuwa nchi ya kwanza ya Bara la Afrika kuwa na teknolojia ya mtandao wa 5G ambao una kasi zaidi ya mara 10 ya mtandao wa 4G.

Awamu ya kwanza ya usambazaji wa teknolojia hiyo itahusisha miji miwili kabla ya kusambazwa nchi nzima.

Maeneo muhimu ya miji ya Johannesburg na Pretoria ndio itanufaika na awamu ya kwanza ya usambazaji wa 5G.

Mtandao huo wa 5G unatarajiwa kuwa na kasi ya MB 200 kwa sekunde mpaka MB 700 kwa sekunde.

Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa RAIN, amesema amefurahishwa na hatua ya uzinduzi wa teknolojia ya 5G nchini humo hususani kampuni yake ikiweka rekodi ya kuwa mtandao wa kwanza wa kuanzisha huduma hiyo.

The Fellowship provides full tuition, fees, housing, travel to and from the United States, and a small stipend to cover books and miscellaneous expenses.Fellowship recipients commit to return to their respective home countries at the conclusion of the program with the goal of assuming a leadership position on the continent where they can meaningfully contribute to the challenges currently confronting Africa.
